Kitty Hawk Ocean Rescue
The Town of Kitty Hawk is dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable public beach experience for both residents and visitors. As part of this commitment, Kitty Hawk Ocean Rescue, a division of the Fire Department, ensures the safety of beachgoers through professional lifeguard services and ocean safety initiatives.
From Memorial Day through Labor Day, Ocean Rescue personnel actively patrol the shoreline, offering protection and assistance to those enjoying the water. Beyond the summer months, the team remains devoted to year-round public education on ocean safety, reinforcing the town’s mission to promote a secure and welcoming coastal environment.
Kitty Hawk Police Department
The Kitty Hawk Police Department was formed in 1983, after the incorporation of the Town of Kitty Hawk in 1981.
The Kitty Hawk Police Department is a full service law enforcement agency employing sixteen sworn employees, and two non-sworn employees. All members of the department strive to provide the highest quality of service to the residents and visitors of the community. The Town of Kitty Hawk has approximately 3,676 year round residents. Wounded Warriors in Action
Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) John J. McDaniel founded Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation in 2007 and established its corporate headquarters in Apollo Beach, Florida. A retired Army officer, John felt that his service to the nation was not yet finished. He started as a concerned citizen taking a few Wounded Warriors out on hunting and fishing trips, but quickly saw that the need for this kind of healing was greater than he could support on his own. In 2009 WWIA was granted 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and has been changing the lives of American Heroes and American Sportsmen and women across the country ever since.
The mission statement of Wounded Warriors in Action is “To serve our Nation’s combat wounded Purple Heart recipients by providing world-class outdoor sporting activities as a means to recognize and honor their sacrifice, encourage independence and connections with communities, and promote healing and wellness through camaraderie and a shared passion for the outdoors.”
Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation now serves over 200 Purple Heart Recipients each year on over 40 events across North America.

She initially became a business owner and professional manicurist before transitioning into the healthcare industry, working as a phlebotomist and advancing to the role of regional laboratory supervisor.

Cheryl is deeply passionate about giving back and actively volunteers with various organizations on special projects throughout the year. She considers it a privilege to serve and support the community that has given her so much.
Beyond her professional and civic commitments, Cheryl has a lifelong love for Jeeps®, a passion that began with her parents’ off-road adventures and was further cemented when she met her husband, an avid Jeep® enthusiast. Together, they have explored renowned trails such as The Rubicon Trail, enjoying camping trips and the camaraderie of fellow Jeepers. Her dedication to the Jeep® lifestyle culminated in a bold decision—trading in her BMW convertible for a Jeep® JKU, which she has since customized and built to match her adventurous spirit.
