New for 2025, this fan-favorite OBX Jeep Invasion activity is bigger and better than ever. The beach crawls have been extended*, starting at Byrd Street. The guided crawl takes Jeeps® along the scenic Kitty Hawk shoreline, rolling past the original entry point and continuing all the way to the familiar exit — an extra mile of sand, surf, and Jeep® family fun.

Do I need a beach driving permit for the Kitty Hawk Krawls?
No special permit is required to participate in the Kitty Hawk Krawls. Your event + beach crawl registration covers the beach crawl.
What kind of Jeep® can join the crawl?
All street-legal Jeeps® are welcome! From Wranglers and Gladiators to CJs and Cherokees, if it’s a Jeep, it belongs on the sand.
Do I need prior off-road experience?
Nope! The Kitty Hawk Krawls are designed for all experience levels. The beach crawl is a relaxed ride on sand, perfect for both beginners and seasoned Jeepers.
What should I bring for the crawl?
We recommend:
- Tire gauge and air-down kit
- Recovery strap (just in case)
- Your sense of Jeep adventure!
Where does the crawl start and end?
The Kitty Hawk Krawls start at Byrd Street, continue along the beach past the former entry point, and finish at the standard exit location. (Course length may vary depending on weather and safety conditions.)
Are the crawls weather dependent?
Yes. The Town of Kitty Hawk, Kitty Hawk Emergency Services, or OBX Jeep Invasion may adjust or shorten the course for public safety.
Can I bring passengers?
Of course! Friends, family, and pups are encouraged to ride along and enjoy the beach views. Just be sure all passengers are safely buckled in.
